Please contact us if you or a member of your family was harmed by a dangerous drug, such as:
- Zicam nasal spray, gel and swabs: The FDA has recalled these forms of Zicam, an over-the-counter cold remedy that has been linked to loss of the sense of smell and, in some cases, lost of the sense of taste.
- Duragesic Fentanyl pain patch: Serious adverse side effects, including breathing problems, coma and death, have been reported from patients who were over-exposed to the drug in this transdermal pain patch. In some cases, cuts in the product packaging exposed patients to lethal dosages of the drug. The FDA has issued numerous recalls of the product since it was first introduced in the 1990s.
- Ortho Evra contraceptive patch: Women using this transdermal patch are about two times more likely to develop blood clots, heart attack and stroke than are women who take oral birth control pills according to studies released by the FDA. A former chief medical examiner for the drug maker's parent company said Johnson & Johnson repeatedly released or failed to recall dangerous drugs to which he objected, including the Ortho Evra patch.
- Digitek and Digoxin: A manufacturing error resulting in oversized pills can cause life-threatening side effects and death from an overdose of this drug, which is prescribed to treat heart conditions.
- Gentamicin ototoxicity: This powerful antibiotic has been linked with permanent damage to the inner ear, which can cause loss of the sense of balance and impaired vision. The drug is given intravenously to people in hospitals, nursing homes and home healthcare settings. The risks of gentamicin have long been known, but it continues to be used because it costs less than safer alternatives.
The list of dangerous drugs is constantly changing. We keep up-to-date on the latest recalls and concerns about pharmaceutical products. Even if you do not see the drug that injured you listed here, we would like to speak with you about your potential case.
