Description of Case: Sponge left in patient at time of cesarean section surgery, resulted in abdominal symptoms and a removal by open laparotomy two weeks later. Less than 24 hours later, patient suffered middle cerebral artery stroke. Patient made fairly good recovery with minimal neurological deficits.
